Hypnosis for Drinking – The Ultimate Guide
Hypnosis for drinking is becoming a bigger and bigger part of my daily practice. Increasingly I am seeing clients who are drinking excessively day after day as a way of coping with stress and other emotional problems. As alcohol is so readily available and people are happier to drink at home it is becoming the go-to substance for people to abuse at the moment.
My hypnosis for drinking programs have been designed to help you change your relationship with alcohol but how do I make this happen?

Hypnosis for Quitting Drinking
One of the first things you might ask is ” do I need to give up alcohol completely”? The answer to this question is that in the majority of cases no. Some of my clients have decided that they would like to completely stop which is their choice but unless my client is a diagnosed alcoholic it isn’t necessary to quit drinking completely. The aim of my program is to get you to cut down on your alcohol intake so that you are drinking at safe levels.
If you want to completely cut our alcohol then we can work on that but it is not a necessary part of my drink less program. Hypnosis for drinking is flexible and can help to boost your motivation and willpower to make a complete change.
Why does moderating drinking help? This is because if I take something away from my clients they are likely to crave it more. The key to any addiction is to help my clients to take it or leave it rather than banning it completely.
Hypnosis for Addiction
So are you addicted to alcohol? Most of my clients are not addicted to alcohol but have build up series of habits, routines and coping mechanisms where drinking is involved. Habits can be changed with some motivation and help to understand what is really bothering you.
Drinking is not the problem. I know that sounds strange but it is true. Drinking is used to help you switch off from other problems that may be going on in your life. Got a problem with confidence? Then you may be using alcohol to help you feel more confident in front of others. Having a hard time at work? Then alcohol might be used to help you switch off from your worries at home.
The key with hypnosis for addiction is finding out why you may have a problem and helping them deal with the real problems. Resolve those and then it becomes so much easier to break the drinking habit.
Therapy for Alcohol and Drinking
So how to do run my therapy for alcohol and drinking programs? All my clients commit to seeing me for a minimum of four sessions to allow us to have time to work on the main issues that may be creating a problem for you.
Session one is a full assessment. I need to ask you questions about your life as well as your drinking habits. This will include details of anxiety, depression, traumatic incidents, childhood worries, relationships and much more. Plus you will be asked about your general medical health. This starts to give me clues as to where the problems may lie.
As a quick point, I should say that hypnosis for drinking should never be considered as a substitute for rehab or medical detox. This needs to be conducted by a medical professional.
Then in the first session, I begin by introducing you to hypnosis but conducting your first session which tends to involve positive suggestions and visualisation. After that first session, you will be given an audio download to listen to daily before our next sessions.
Subsequent sessions involve more interactive discussions whilst you are in hypnosis. In particular, I use therapeutic methods to discover what may be bothering you in your conscious and subconscious mind. When we both discover the real problems work begins on helping you to change your habits.
Here are some of the most common problems that need to be addressed in therapy for drinking:
- Stress
- Anxiety
- Confidence
- Relationship Problems
- Fear of Failure
- Feelings of Not Being Good Enough
- Grief/Bereavement
- Sadness
In addition to working on any emotional issues, you may have I also assist with building motivation to change. Plus habit reversal to alter those daily drinking habits. It is a combination of factors that can make a big difference to your drinking habit.
Hypnotherapy for Binge Drinking
Binge drinking hypnosis tackles clients who have a different problem with alcohol. Many of the binge drinkers are able to go days, weeks or even months without the need for alcohol. Then something happens that makes them feel the need to consume a significant amount of alcohol in one sitting.
Hypnosis for binge drinking helps with emotional regulation and identifying triggers that may cause you to drink to excess. Dealing with uncomfortable feelings and emotions is necessary in life so therapy helps you find ways to do this without reaching for a drink.
Hypnosis to Stop Drinking Wine
One of the major problems that have been steadily increasing over the past few years is excessive wine drinking. Having a wine cellar of a wine fridge in your house is now one of the must haves in home decor trends. This sends the message that drinking at home is desirable. People love to show their wealth and status with the new symbols of success.
The problem is that the wine is not far more easily accessible than before. Once upon a time if you wanted to drink wine you would head out to your nearest pub or bar. Now you have the bar in your house. Instead of having a few glasses of wine you are now buying your stock in bulk on offer at the local supermarket.
This means that if you come home from a stressful day you can reach straight into your supply and start drinking. Years before you would have had to make an effort to find a pub now there is no need. No wonder wine sales are increasing every year.
Hypnosis to stop drinking wine assists you in making lifestyle changes so that you don’t automatically reach for a glass and start drinking when things feel tough. It helps you to get healthier and more in control of your drinking patterns.
Hypnosis for Alcoholism
If you are an alcoholic then hypnosis may be able to help but any therapist needs to proceed with caution. Firstly hypnosis is not going to work well if you are unable to attend the sessions sober. The subconscious suggestions will simply not stick as your memories and thoughts will be blurred by alcohol.
Secondly, if you have been drinking heavily for years it is too dangerous just to stop. This should only be done under strict medical supervision or in a rehab clinic.
Where hypnosis for drinking can help is on your road to recovery. You may have stopped drinking but want a hypnotherapist to help you discover the unhelpful emotions that might be behind your problem. Finding the root cause of a problem can help you to think differently in the future especially when worked on in therapy.
How to Stop Alcohol Cravings
Learning how to stop alcohol cravings is also an important part of my therapy program. The great thing about hypnosis for drinking is that it is a natural solution to alcohol cravings. If you are not an alcoholic you may be shocked to find that most of your cravings are not related to alcohol at all but to emotional triggers.
Help to manage stress and anxiety can make a big difference to many triggers. In addition changing habits and routines as well as who you hang out with and where can all help. If you are on the program I examine your particular issues and help you to address the problem areas.
Self-Hypnosis to Stop Drinking
Self-hypnosis to stop drinking also plays a part in the program. This is because regular and repeated suggestions to change your drinking habit can have an impact on what you do. The self-hypnosis download acts as a reminder in your mind to do things differently.
In addition self-hypnosis of any kind is deeply relaxing. When you are in a hypnotic trance much of your anxiety and stress fades away. Part of that benefit also stays with you when you come back into the room and resume your normal lifestyle. When practised regularly hypnosis can make you into a calmer person who is more able to handle stress. This, in turn, can also help you to cut back on your drinking.

Stop Drinking Expert
Over the years I have worked with hundreds of clients for issues related to habit and addiction. I know that traditional counselling or therapy does not always work for my clients because it doesn’t help them to identify the underlying causes of their drinking problem. Many of my clients are shocked and surprised when they finally see what has been really causing them a problem in their life. Often these problems go back many years.
Hypnotherapy is one of the few methods of therapy that enables my clients to relax enough to tell me what is really on their minds. Discover what the subconscious has been hiding in plain sight and it can make a world of difference to your thinking and actions.
