Sobriety Affirmations To Help You Stop Drinking

We are great believers in the use of positive affirmations as a way of helping our clients refocus their thoughts and create better outcomes. A positive mantra may just be words to some people but to others, they are a great way of changing a negative mindset into one that can overcome problems. These sobriety affirmations are designed to be used as motivational mantras to help our clients focus on creating positive changes and taking back control over their drinking.

Even though we talk about sobriety affirmations to help you stop drinking alcohol and assisting with addiction recovery these mantras can also be used by anyone who would like to cut back on their alcohol intake.

Not everyone has to stop drinking alcohol as part of our programs or be considering a sober life to use them. Many simply would like to drink less and alter bad habits that have crept into their lives.

Positive Affirmations for Sobriety

When we develop sobriety affirmations or recovery mantras to help people to stop drinking alcohol we always arrange for what we have written to have a positive intent rather than a negative slant. We know that focusing on the positives will always far outweigh any negative suggestions or comments.

Hypnotherapy focuses on the same principles. We want our clients to think about the positive aspects of what they are doing and how much that will be of benefit to them in their lives. When the subconscious mind thinks about what it will gain from doing things differently it is far more likely to comply and create good outcomes for your mental and physical health.

Of course, you don’t have to walk around all day with a smile on your face but you do need to be aware that negative thinking is one of the main problems that can cause our clients to return to drinking alcohol to excess. Challenging old ingrained negative thought patterns such as low self-esteem or self-worth can go a long way to altering not only your drinking but also your general wellbeing as well.

Affirmations to Drink Less

In addition, we want our sobriety affirmations to be goal orientated and set intentions out for what you want to happen. We are great believers in having a stop drinking alcohol plan rather than trying to wing it. What exactly do you want to accomplish? How do you want that to happen? When do you want that change to occur by? What do you expect in your addiction recovery? Setting SMART goals means that you know where you are now and where you want to be in the near future.

The problem is that many people will say to themselves that they want to stop drinking, stop substance abuse, have a sober life or cut back but they never put any deadlines on themselves to do this. That means they can spend months if not years getting nowhere with recovery because they are spending more time thinking about it than actually doing it.

Resolve to set some goals for yourself as part of your drink less and recovery so that you have ways of measuring your success.

Recovery Affirmations

Recovery affirmations should also use repetition and have some form of self-belief attached to them if they are to help with addiction. When we work with our clients to alter their mindset in hypnosis we repeat suggestions multiple times so that they stick in the subconscious. There is no point saying a daily mantra once and thinking that will be enough to help you stop drinking alcohol. Positive affirmations need to be used regularly to remind yourself of what you want to happen. Eventually when you say them often enough parts of them begin to stay in your mind.

You also can’t say the alcohol mantras and have absolutely no belief in what you are saying. You need to understand that you need to participate in making things happen if you want to alter your addiction. Words alone are not enough for your sobriety affirmations to work with addiction issues. They are there to help remind you of what you want to happen but require you to have an intention to create and want change as well.
