Therapy for Stress Management

Therapy for Stress management is going to be increasingly important over the coming months as people deal with Coronavirus and the aftermath. Right now people’s stress levels are going through the roof. People are experiencing difficulties everywhere and frantically trying to adjust to the new normal. Hands up if you are one of the people who is:

  • Having difficulty sourcing food to feed yourself and your family.
  • Trying to get a doctors appointment for a routine problem.
  • Worried that you might catch the virus.
  • Self-isolating and stuck at home.
  • Homeschooling your kids for the first time whilst juggling work.
  • Worried about getting paid due to layoffs or business closures.
  • Trying to work from home for the first time and having logistics problems.

Even the very rich are not immune to some of this stress. They may not have money worries but they still have to stay home like the rest of us. They still worry about their friends and family. They still panic that they could catch the virus.

No matter who you are or where you live stress levels in the population will have risen dramatically since January and will carry on rising until this is all over.

Stress Awareness Month

If you were not aware April is Stress Awareness month. This month is usually used to highlight the impact that stress can have on people and advertise what can be done to help mental health. Even before the Coronavirus issues 74% of people at some point in the previous year found their stress levels so high they felt unable to cope. This number is going to blown out of the water by what is happening at the moment.

Stress Awareness month is a way of showing people that there is support out there to help. I offer stress management solutions to my clients in the form of online sessions as well as products to help them switch off and relax.

What is Stress Management Therapy

Stress management therapy covers a range of techniques and psychological strategies to help people with stress to function better. Left unchecked stress can cause significant problems mentally, physically and emotionally. As a stress management professional my job is to assess the areas in my client’s life that are being impacted because of stress and help them to find better coping strategies.

So what problems do I look out for? Here are some of the physical problems people may experience:

  • Fatigue
  • Headaches
  • Physical pain and muscle tension
  • Sleeping problems
  • Skin problems
  • Issues with digestion
  • Autoimmune problems

I also check for the mental symptoms such as:

  • Depression and mood swings
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Addictions such as drinking or drug taking
  • Problems with food
  • Skin picking or nail biting
  • Withdrawal from society.

Plus the emotional issues that are caused by stress:

  • Anger
  • Frustration
  • Sadness
  • Loneliness
  • Agitation
  • Feelings of being overwhelmed.

A therapist’s job is to look at the bigger picture and then help their clients manage each of the areas where they may be experiencing problems. As stress impacts so many areas of life, the solutions can involve everything from managing food choices to helping people sleep.

Stress Therapy Solutions

The thing about stress is that it can either hit you like a train or slowly creep up on you without you even noticing. Clearly, Coronavirus is the train but even before this illness came along plenty of people experienced high-stress levels. As an example, I spent an hour working with one of my clients by mobile phone yesterday. During our session, we were interrupted by eight people trying to call her. Replicate that in a day and she would be getting well over 100 calls or text messages! Yet at no point had my client thought about the implications of this on her stress levels.

With stress therapy, there are issues that we can control and ones that we can’t so we need to focus on what is possible. Clearly, in the case I have just talked about my client is capable of switching off her phone for periods in the day. There are a huge number of other things I can help my client to do:

  • Change negative thinking patterns
  • Get them motivated to do exercise
  • Teach them how to relax deeply with self-hypnosis
  • Change evening routines so they can sleep better
  • Alter coping mechanisms such as drinking to switch off
  • Show them time management practices
  • Teach them to say no
  • Find time to rest and recuperate
  • Help them avoid negative people or situations

No matter where the stress originates from it is possible to make changes whether that is for job stress therapy or for relationships or money worries there are solutions available.

Hypnosis for Stress

Hypnosis for stress is one of my go-to strategies to help my clients. This is because it is a particularly effective therapy for stress management. When you are in hypnosis you are switched off from all the hustle and bustle around you and your muscles relax. Practised regularly it has a cumulative impact meaning that you feel increased levels of calm the more you use it. Plus with my self-hypnosis for stress and anxiety downloads, it is something that can be used by my clients at home simply and easily on their computers, tablets or phones.

Products for Stress Management

In addition to my therapy for stress management with my clients, I also recommend certain products that can help to reduce stress levels.

Ever heard of a weighted blanket? These are being increasingly used to help people who have an issue with stress, anxiety or problems sleeping. The jaymag Weighted Blanket is one of the most popular on the market and is great at creating feelings of calm and relaxation. If you have stress issues and are also suffering from insomnia this is one of the best products for you to use.

Many people are also seeing the benefits of CBD style products. Organic Hemp Oil Extract can be used to boost your mood, reduce stress and help the immune system as well. It can also be used to manage pain that is related to inflammation so one oil is multi-tasking.

A Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Workbook is a great tool to help you to change your mood. This book will help you to replace stress-promoting habits with mindful ones. Obviously, a little more patience is required but once mastered mindfulness can bring a lifetime of benefits.

Stress Management Therapy Near Me?

The great thing about therapy for stress management is that your physical location no longer matters. I have been offering online solutions to people suffering from stress for years. Online stress therapy sessions via Facetime, Skype or Facebook video messenger are the perfect solutions for anyone needing help in the comfort of their own home.

Online therapy sessions work so well because our clients are much more comfortable in their home environment making it faster for us to help them relax. They are also much simpler for our clients who no longer have to take considerable time to drive to a clinic and find a place to park. Technology has now made online therapy sessions one of the easiest options out there plus it means you can choose from some of the best therapists in the world.
